Update: title, website, manuscript

To give you a glimpse behind the scenes, here’s an update on my book’s writing process.

1/ Title

I wanted to settle on a title so I could launch the website (see next point), but this proved harder than expected.

‍After further data collection and reflection, two candidates remained:

  • Option A: “Building High-Impact Organizations” (working title)

  • Option B: “Making Teams Come Alive”

The subtitle remains: “A Tactical Guide To Unlocking Initiative, Collaboration, and Leadership in Teams”.

I chose option A as the final title for a few reasons:

  • It ranked first in a public poll, although the result was close.

  • My clients preferred it (i.e. strong fit with target audience).

  • A second LinkedIn ad experiment showed a 2x higher CTR (1% vs. 0.5%).

  • It feels more aligned with the content. Option B is stronger from a marketing perspective, but less accurate.

2/ Website

Since I started advising start-ups and scale-ups on organization and leadership, people have often suggested writing a book to establish my “expert” status and generate leads.

I see this book differently. I want it to stand on its own. If anything, it’s more a handover of what I’ve learned than a tool to drive demand for my services.

For that reason, I’m treating it as an open project and welcoming others to participate. (If you have ideas for enriching or spreading the book, feel free to reach out.)

This is also why I have created a separate website on its own domain: www.highimpactorgs.com

3/ Manuscript

After rewriting the manuscript 3-4 times, my partner reviewed it, which basically let to another rewrite.

Now, a small group of readers with different perspectives is reviewing it in detail. I encouraged them to be candid, and judging from the reviewed pages I’ve already received, they are. 😊

I plan to pre-release the first chapters in May to gather further feedback. I don’t have a timeline for the official publication yet.

Stay tuned!
